When is the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival?
The Chilliwack Sunflower Festival starts in August and continues for around a month. When I visited in early September, the flowers were still thriving and stunning to walk through. Be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen and water when visiting in August as you’ll be in the sun the whole time!
Where is it Located?
The sunflower festival is located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, which is around 1-hour from downtown Vancouver. It’s a great distance to head out on a day trip from Vancouver! Parking is free on the grounds and is easily accessible.
Admission to Chilliwack Sunflower Festival
Admission prices to the festival are typically around $15-$25 for adults depending on the day. If you purchase advanced tickets, you can save a few dollars on admission. Infants are usually free and children can enter at a discounted rate.

Visiting the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival
After heading past the ticket booth, you will be immediately greeted with an assortment of colourful flowers. The mountains in the distance create a scene that is straight out of a postcard. The neat rows of flowers are separated by well-maintained walking paths to allow you to enjoy the flowers without damaging them. While I’ve definitely tried growing sunflowers in the past with sunflower growing kits, I’ve never seen sunflowers this extravagant in my life!
Throughout the fields, there are various photo props set up. There are bikes, swings, vintage cars, and more available for you to take photos with. The kids seemed to love them and they also make for great Instagram-worthy shots! With the mountains and the colourful flowers in the background, the props create a unique scene for photography.
Along with many different varieties of sunflowers, there are plenty of other colourful flowers to admire! It’s really neat seeing rows of different coloured flowers lined up so perfectly. With over 6-acres to explore, you’re sure to find some favourites to purchase to bring home!
In terms of amenities, there is typically a food truck on-site serving snacks and beverages. There is also a pavilion that offers some shade. When I was there, there was a stand set up there as well selling flowers, drinks, and snacks. For restrooms, there were lots of porta-potties and places to wash your hands.
Overall, I highly recommend visiting the sunflower festival at least once. If you’re visiting the Rocky Mountains, it’s worth a trip out to walk through acres of beautiful flowers. It’s a perfect trip for the whole family as well!
