How to Get to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

The park is located just north of Vancouver and is a great half-day trip from the city. It is situated along the Capilano River in the middle of the forest, making for a great scenic escape. It is easily accessible by car or the free shuttle that the park offers from downtown Vancouver locations.

I recommend heading to the park around opening time as it can get quite busy due to it’s popularity.

Adventuring Through Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

The park is home to three main attractions: the suspension bridge, a cliff edge walk, and treetop adventures. Along the way, there are plenty of educational signs and stops to learn more about the area and its history. Take your time walking through to admire the beauty of the park and relax at some of the benches in the forest!

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Near the park entrance, you will find the start of the suspension bridge. The bridge is 140 metres long and 70 metres high. It serves as a pathway overtop the Capilano River. While the height can be scary to some, there are incredible views as you walk across the long bridge. Try to look down at the river and off the side of the bridge for an exhilarating and unique view of the water.

During peak hours, the bridge can get quite busy, and taking photos can be challenging. I arrived just after opening and there were few people around, so I was able to take lots of photos at the bridge!

Treetops Adventure

After crossing the suspension bridge, you will be at the start of the Treetops Adventure area of the park. Here there are a series of smaller bridges and platforms that take you through the forest. There are 7 suspension bridges total which are attached to trees that are hundreds of years old. Along the way, be sure to stop at the signs to learn a bit more about the different trees and animals throughout the area. You will also come across a neat exhibition with live birds, where you can see them up close and learn about the different species.

Cliffwalk

The Cliffwalk is a great experience for those that aren’t scared of heights. A very narrow bridge is connected to the side of a cliff, allowing you to walk alongside the rock high above the river. It is certainly not for the faint of heart but is a great spot for unique views and photography!

Dining at the Park

The park offers a handful of different drink and food options available at stands throughout the park and a restaurant on site. You can head to Loggers Grill, The Cliff House Restaurant, Bridge House Cafe, or The Cabin to grab a bite to eat. You are also able to purchase alcoholic drinks at the restaurant. Surprisingly, the food is quite good on-site!

Is Capilano Suspension Bridge Park Worth the Price?

In my opinion, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is worth visiting if you’re a family with young kids. Then, you’re able to take advantage of the package prices and bring the kids out on an exciting adventure through the treetops. If you are looking for a place to take great photos and to relax in nature, the price is quite steep and there are alternative places to go like Lynn Canyon.
